Oil & Gas Sector Jobs in Dubai
Dubai is best known as a global commercial and shopping destination, but that’s not all this prosperous emirate has to offer. The jobs in Dubai are popular, tourism is booming during the winter and spring seasons, international trade fairs and exhibitions are aplenty each year and to top it all, there are a great many festivals too. As a place for employment, Dubai has taken centre stage among Asians who seek high income opportunities, but it’s now a haven for Western and European job seekers as well. The oil and gas sector in Dubai must be given a special mention, because it’s among the few industries still hiring employees, despite the global recession.
In actuality, the oil and gas industry is not Dubai’s best money-maker, but since Dubai does have its own oil reserves and Abu Dhabi‘s main oil & gas companies have opened branches in Dubai, there’s no dearth of jobs for anyone with experience or interest in the sector. Abu Dhabi, which is the world’s fourth largest crude oil producer, has the most oil rigs, consequent to the many oil wells located within the emirate. Dubai doesn’t rely on oil and gas alone for its economy, but there are many firms dealing in the industry. Some of the popular oil and gas sector jobs in Dubai include site project managers, chemists, petroleum engineers, geologists, standards controllers, materials inspectors, safety supervisors, contracts administrators, quantity surveyors, estimators and technicians.
Typically, most of the field and onsite work force at oil rigs and plants are from South Asian nations. The labour and manpower is very cheap. Most often, the top executive positions are held by Westerners and Europeans, although it’s in no way exclusive. Salaries are high, surpassing the norms of other industries. Most oil and gas sector jobs in Dubai are offered with excellent remuneration packages, often including extensive insurance coverage, company vehicles, paid accommodation and many other benefits.
